TONY TURNER

Tony Turner is our Head – Client Relations (UK and European Union). Tony is a seasoned banker with a wealth of diverse global experience. He offers deep knowledge of the ASEAN region having served for 7 years (2010-17) as CEO of the HSBC subsidiary in Indonesia (Bank Ekonomi), leading a bank having 80 branches and 2000 employees.

Tony worked for HSBC Group for 35 years from 1982-2017, serving in 12 countries in Asia (particularly Hong Kong), the Middle East and South America; and since 2008 as CEO successively of 4 different HSBC subsidiaries in Asia. More recently he has served in non-executive roles as Director of PT Bank HSBC Indonesia (2017-18); and currently as Director of Banque Havilland S.A., Luxembourg; and Chairman of their Swiss subsidiary Private Bank (both since 2018).

He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Financial Services (The London Institute of Banking and Finance) and also Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in History and Politics from the University of Exeter; thus balancing analytical financial skills with a liberal humanities academic background.

Tony’s wide professional experience covers corporate banking, private banking, and ASEAN trade and commerce.

Tony is married with 3 grown-up children, and now lives in London. When he isn’t on Zoom calls with clients he plays contract bridge, tennis and golf. Once COVID allows, he hopes to resume his regular trips to Asia, and to Marylebone Cricket Club (Lord’s), London.
